LITIGATION SUPPORT
What do these terms mean? Very often, business and personal disputes will require an investigation of the finances of one or more parties to precisely determine the financial status of the parties involved. This specialized service requires a CPA trained and experienced in both forensic accounting and litigation support to provide the expertise required on a couple of fronts.
The forensic accounting side of the service involves the investigative part of the process: knowing which questions to ask regarding the finances of the parties, and knowing where to look to find hidden information. After this portion of the process is completed, the litigation support phase comes into play. The CPA will be required to present the findings of his investigations to the attorneys in the case and will be responsible for their understanding of the findings. In addition, in some cases the CPA may be required to provide expert testimony in depositions or in court as required.
Some of the disputes that may require the skills of a forensic accountant are:
Shareholder disputes
Partnership disputes
Matrimonial disputes
Identification of business economic losses.
If your case may require the expertise of a forensic accountant and litigation support professional, call Alan Gordon to schedule a consultation to discuss your needs.
